Seasonal Planning Kick Start Clinics

Effective for coaches of all levels as a foundation to seasonal planning
2 hour theory workshop providing your coaches with the foundation to a establishing a rewarding developmental season plan, (specific to the respective stage of development). Resources will be provided specific to the topics covered, equipping your coaches with a hands-on resource for their season. The Kick Start program presents coaches with the following classroom themes.
Innovative and Effective Practice Planning
Developing an effective, innovative and fun practice environment is one of the greatest challenges facing a coach. Our tips and strategies will provide your coaches with the essentials to building a developmental plan with the athlete in mind.
Stages of Development
Providing your athletes with the foundation they need to succeed at the next level. Our coaches will outline what is essential to building your athletes foundation to their developmental pyramid, while providing strategies on how to provide an environment customized to their specific needs

Skill Development Clinics

Choose from our library of training themes or tailor your specific themes based on the needs of your athletes and bring them to life to your coaches. Our training principles will provide progressive on field training so coaches can see & feel what all is involved in the skills addressed. Team Tactics

Recommended for coaches coaching U-14 to U-18 (11 aside soccer)
“Coaching the Team” clinics are designed to assist the coach through providing the tactical foundation for coaching your team in the area of your choice. You may choose from any of the following topics or customize your own topic in consultation with NSA Soccer staff:
- Defending
This clinic introduces general principles of defending starting with individual defending as the base for building up into small group defending and then team defending where we introduce team defensive tactics.
- Attacking Themes
Attacking themes introduces general principles of attacking play; counter attacking; attacking in wide areas; attacking from the back; attacking in the final 3rd.
- Introducing systems of play
Balancing the strengths of individuals on the team with the right system is very specific to each team. This clinic introduces coaches to the options regarding formations and player positioning, identifying the advantages/disadvantages of each system, and which systems suit which type of players.
- Introduction to set pieces
A creative clinic that challenges the coach to put their thinking cap on and design effective set pieces. Set pieces include free kicks, corner kicks, goal kicks and throw-ins.
- In-Game Coaching
In game coaching provides coaches with an understanding of what to look for from the sidelines during a game so they can coach more effectively as their team is playing.

Incorporating sport specific athletic training into your regular practice plan can be a challenge. Our staff will provide you with the knowledge and inventive concepts that can ensure your athletes are training in an environment effectively targeting the energy systems and athleticism required to perform in a game environment.
- Routes Choices and Scholarships
Our staff has worked with hundreds of student athletes who have gone on to achieve scholarships at the post secondary level in both the United States and Canada. Our time spent with your coaches and players will educate them about what is out there and what are the essential pieces to your player portfolio. Athletes will learn what are the proven timelines, tips and strategies to communicate with coaches.
- Coach Mentoring
Our coaching staff will work directly one on one with you the coach. We will provide you with an analysis on your delivery, practice and game planning and management. This product is designed to assist coaches reach the next level in their coaching.

Alumni in Profile
Brianna Salverda reported to Jacksonville State training camp on Wednesday August 11th after what was a long road to success since joining the National Sport Academy Junior High program in 2008. “Brianna proved day in and day out to be one of the hardest working athletes I have ever worked with” states coach Paul Schultz, “Her work ethic will make a statement to her new teammates very early”. Salverda already boasting 90 minutes in her first friendly at centre-back is ready for this new role and as she demonstrated every day with NSA, will be up to any challenge she faces in her inaugural season. Jacksonville kicks off this weekend with back to back away games against Mercer and Tennessee.
VanYzerloo signs with U-19 Magdeburg
After spending much of his grade 12 year in Germany NSA Alumnus Devon VanYzerloo’s hard work has paid off as he has secured a spot on the roster with German U-19 FC Magdeburg. “This unique opportunity isn’t afforded to just anyone, Devon’s internal drive is certainly part of what makes him such a special athlete, I would be surprised if any player in the city spent more time on personal training than Devon”, Coach Schultz.
Piraux’s impact garners whitecaps nod!
After being invited to a scouting camp with the NTC program during the school year of 2010/2011, Mitch Piraux was identified and invited by the MLS Vancouver Whitecaps for the newly established residency program for 2011/2012 school year. This opportunity is only afforded to a handful of international students annually from across the globe. Mitch’s technical ability impressed the NSA coaches very early and “his professionalism and dedication to achieving his goal is evident in everything he does on and off the soccer field and I wish him the very best with this exciting opportunity”, Coach Long.
